Description

Position Purpose/Summary:

Lead the optimization of critical processes related to ultra-high vacuum (UHV) radio frequency (RF) braze, X-ray tube, and X-ray power supply manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in cleanroom and vacuum environments, strong technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead continuous improvement efforts to meet the rising customer demand for a specialized X-ray tube used for industrial applications.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop, sustain, and improve manufacturing processes focused on ultra-high vacuum (UHV) radio frequency (RF) braze, X-ray tube, and X-ray power supply manufacturing processes.
  • Become the value stream owner for all processes related to a specialized X-ray tube.
  • Champion and own the methodology of one-piece-flow manufacturing.
  • Utilize data-driven decision making using statistical process control charts (SPC) and process capability studies to monitor process stability and implement continuous improvement.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process-related issues.
  • Work collaboratively with the development and manufacturing engineering teams to maintain process controls of current processes, document good manufacturing practices (GMP) in work instructions, and implement new product integration (NPI) into existing equipment.
  • Own and update the assigned PFMEA (process failure mode and effects analysis) documents applicable to the specialized X-ray tube production area.
  • Assist the equipment team in the specification, procurement, installation, and process validation.
  • Ensure adherence of personal and production employee compliance with safety, cleanroom cleanliness requirements, and vacuum system integrity protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

The following are preferred qualifications. Experience is strongly preferred but not required. Candidates with adjacent experience in the following preferred qualifications are encouraged to apply.

  • Experience with Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) processes, equipment, and vacuum requirements.
  • Experience with metal-to-ceramic brazing using controlled-atmosphere or vacuum furnaces.
  • Experience with chemical cleaning of metals (acid etching), electropolishing, TIG, spot, and laser welding.
  • Experience with radio frequency (RF) UHV equipment.
  • Familiarity with X-ray assemblies, high-voltage power supplies, and electron optics.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of industry experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role (required).
  • Proficiency in databases (SQL, Microsoft Access) and statistical software (Minitab, JMP, R, or equivalent) for data analysis (preferred).
  • Knowledge of statistical process control charts (SPC) and statistical analysis (preferred).
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification and/or lean manufacturing training (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Specifically: Excel, Word, Visio.
